Located on the Violet line of Delhi metro network is the Janpath Metro Station that is part of phase III expansion of metro rail network. This line has been made in parallel to the Yellow Line corridor and will provide easy access to the blue line that connects Mandi House to Central Secretariat and became operational from 26thJune 2014.

Completion

A tunnel as long as 1516 meters was planned for this line in April 2013 connecting Mandi House to Janpath that is part of extension of Phase III. The work of tunnel was completed in a period of 182 days. The tunnel built is 5.8m in diameter covering the following areas American Centre, Fulbright House, Scindia House, Nepal Embassy, Antariksh Bhawan, Janpath house and few others.

This rail line was introduced with the intention of easing the congestion that is felt on Rajiv Chowk metro line that has almost 300000 commuters each day.
